Using video art to deconstruct space and body parts to heighten the spirit of experimentation.

About Nyoba Kan Butoh Festival

In July 2008, Nyoba Kan, the one and only Butoh dance group in Malaysia, kicked off the very first Butoh Dance Festival. Throughout the month of July, Nyoba Kan lined up various events in the spirit of Butoh including a photo exhibition, Butoh in the Park, Butoh workshop, Butoh Jam as well as the festival highlight She Walks in the Beauty as the Night.

Based on a strong belief in this art form and many years of practice, Nyoba Kan self-funded the entire Butoh Festival. It has become a significant cornerstone in the Butoh dance history in Southeast Asia.

The Butoh Festival caught the attention of a few local as well as international instittutions who were interested to become partners of the next festival.

So, Nyoba Kan will once again be bringing to you yet another exciting Butoh Festival this August 2009.
