SYNOPSIS:

One of the most popular plays among youth theatre groups is Al Santos' The System of Professor Tuko, which was first performed by the Philippine Educational Association (PETA) in 1981. It is a favourite among the youth, not only because it has students as characters, but also because it portrays classroom situations and tackles familiar problems relating to the educational system.

This play starts with the pupils reporting in for class one by one. They express their fear of their teacher, Professor Tuko, who arrives soon after. As usual, Tuko goes through the routine of inspecting everyone's nails, clothing and shoes. During the lessons, the teacher is suspected to be living a double life and his lessons seem to not match the actual syllabus that the students are suppose to be learning.

Being done in Malaysia for the first time, the script has been localised and adapted to a Malaysian context by Helena Foo, Director in-Training at KLPac.
