KLPac is kicking off its 2007 programme with Harold Pinter's Betrayal. Directed by James Lee, the play features a tight cast comprising just four actors - Ari Ratos, Vernon Adrian Emuang, Bernice Chauly and Berg Lee.
The plot concerns a married couple, Robert and Emma, and their life-long friend Jerry. Robert and Jerry were friends even before Robert's marriage to Emma. The long complication is that their three lives endure year after year as Jerry and Emma have a nine year love affair.
Pinter's semi-autobiographical play examines the surprise attraction, shy first steps, gradual flowering and treasonous deception of a woman's extramarital affair with her husband's best friend. The entire story is presented with scenes in precise reverse chronological order!
