November PLATFORM Showcase Postponed

What is The Platform?
Essentially an open-mic night for theatre, The Platform aims to showcase new talent and original material (drama / theatre / physical theatre genre only) never before published or performed prior to the day of performance.
New talent aside, the platform is also open to established talent who may want to venture out of their ‘comfort zones’ and try things that they may not be known for.
How does it work?
Once the piece is selected and a slot is allotted, they will showcase their ‘work’ in front of a live audience. There will be no more than 6 performance pieces per night. The showcase will take place on the first Monday of each month throughout 2008.
In true open-mic fashion, performers will have full creative control over their work and KLPac will in no way interfere with the preparation of the performances. KLPac will only provide the platform, and if necessary, props (1 table & 2 chairs) and minimal lighting although such requests must be made in advance. This way, each showcase will truly be a night of original unseen work.
As this is a purely a non-profit endeavour, performers will not receive any form of payment and audiences will not have to pay to come and watch.
At the end of each showcase, one piece will be singled out. At the end of 2008, all the selected individuals or teams will be given the task of collaborating together to stage their own production. From this point on, KLPac will have creative and artistic involvement.
INTERESTED IN MAKING A SUBMISSION?
If it is a monologue or a short play, please submit a finished script.
If it is physical theatre or something without words, then please submit a brief written description of the performance.
Note: This is not so much for KLPac to decide what can or cannot be staged, but rather so we can mix and match the various pieces so that each showcase will have an interesting mix of different kinds of work.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1) All performance pieces must fall under ‘Theatre’ or ‘Drama’.
2) No Dance or Music, including ‘Musical Theatre’.
3) All participants must be at least 18 yrs of age.
4) All performance pieces must be written by the performer(s). If the piece is written by someone not involved in the performance, then it must not have been published or publicly performed prior to the day of performance.
5) No more than 3 performers per piece (Applies to both dialogue-driven and silent performances).
6) All pieces must be no more than 15 minutes and no less than 5 minutes in length.
7) All languages are accepted.
8) No nudity of any kind.
9) Only 1 table & 2 chairs will be provided as props. Basic lighting may / may not be available - it must be specified when piece is submitted.
10) No microphones of any kind are allowed.
