Stephanie Kuen received her training in art from the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA) where she graduated with a Diploma in Graphic Art in 1986. She ventured into fine art painting in 1999.
Since then, her work has been showcased at the Anugerah Gallery and was subsequently mostly sold off at retail outlets such as House + Co (Bangsar) and Red Envelope (Bandar Utama).
The exposure she received from the Expat KL magazine garnered much positive response and encouragement for her, especially from the expatriate community.
This has propelled her desire to go further and spawned the idea of a solo exhibition. Besides showcasing her talent, it will be a chance for her to gain a wider audience and to re-connect with those who have shown appreciation for her paintings in the past.
This exciting exhibition will showcase stylised abstract figures, outlined with black contours, in a patchwork of bright colours that have been finished with a certain touch of naivety. Most of the paintings highlight the idyllic charm of rural 'kampung' life as compared to the hectic pace of city life.
The oil and acrylic paintings on canvas will also be available for sale.
