Nanci uses a method called isolation to train the student's muscles to dance.
The basic movements of American Tribal Style Belly Dance and Tribal Folk Dance will be taught in this class. Students have to rebuild the muscle memory the correct way through 8 basic movements. The body remembers the right and wrong way to do things so each student must correct the wrong ones. Nanci wishes to inspire her students to dance for the rest of their life. Movements that are executed incorrectly will lead to long-term injury.
Tribal-style belly dance originated in San Francisco in the 1960’s. The movements of this style are based on traditional dance from North Africa, India and Eastern Europe. Tribal Belly Dance builds unity, creates feminine strength and gives a sense of belonging. The movements are improvised and performed in a group.
